Gung Hay Fat Choy!

Or for those of you who are not fluent in the phoneticised Hakka dialect (I dunno either, ask Wikipedia): Happy New Year to our Chinese readers. 2009 is the year of the Ox, the Chinese Zodiac sign for those born in 1961, 1973, 1985 and 1997.
People born in the Year of the Ox are apparently ‘patient, speak little, and inspire confidence in others. They tend, however, to be eccentric, and bigoted, and they anger easily. They have fierce tempers and although they speak little, when they do they are quite eloquent. Ox people are mentally and physically alert. Generally easy-going, they can be remarkably stubborn, and they hate to fail or be opposed. They are most compatible with Snake, Rooster, and Rat people.’
I was born in the year of the Rabbit, making me ‘…articulate, talented, and ambitious…virtuous, reserved, [with] excellent taste. Rabbit people are admired, trusted, and are often financially lucky.’ Ahem.

Tinchy at number 3!
Congrats to Tinchy on his first official release via Island records landing at numberĀ three in the national charts. It seems as though the mass audience is opening its arms to Rap with Kid Cudi, Tinchy Stryder, Lil Wayne and Kanye all currently in the top ten it could be a big year for what usually does not get a look in. Who do you think is next?
The Great British Seaside

St. Ives, Cornwall. A place which conjures up nostalgic childhood memories of boogie-boarding on surfing beaches, endless hours spent on the 2p machines in the arcade with my oldest friend Ellie and the dreaded six hour train ride home when we would collapse in Cornish Pasty-induced comas, having been fed with very little else for the entire duration of the holiday. In the days before offsetting your carbon footprint made British coastal resorts cool again, we would moan about the lack of a more glamorous summer holiday destination (obnoxious little shits, I know.) But revisiting St Ives this weekend made me realise that actually, it’s probably one of the most beautiful seaside spots in the country.
Some more flicks, after the jump.
