ever changing
Three weeks ago I handed in my dissertation, nearing the end of a four year degree and close to a nervous breakdown I had two apparent choices, both involved taking a break and NOT looking, touching or being by a computer screen.
Option: (1) smash my laptop into a million little pieces or (2) close down twitter, facebook etc , leave my computer in a tidy corner somewhere in my bedroom and disappear for a while. The second is exactly what I did.
I packed my bags, let emails sit unread, grabbed a few friends and let the breakfast, lunch and dinner gin and tonic flow. The highlight of my break was a weekend camping trip to a beautiful spot in Wales. I say weekend, it turned into a Thursday – Wednesday trip. A bit like Nienke Klunder’s sequence portraits from soldier to clown, I went from a respectable human being who actually enjoyed washing and clean socks to a dirty savage who didn’t wash, caught pheasants and roasted them on an open fire.
It is nice to take a break, it is even nicer to be back.

sounds like something i need to do, too much work not enough time though.

Welcome back! We missed you! No really- there was even a multi-member Twitter conversation about where you had disappeared to. GK assured us you would be back like the Terminator. And here you are.
