Jay Electronica Vs Trading Places….

Last night Jay Electronica took to the Jazz Cafe stage in a much anticipated 1st London solo gig. For those in attendance I think we are all agreed that it was a truly special show and one I will never forget (We all quickly got over the late start). From sharing his bottle of Jack Daniels with anyone who wanted some to moving between Dilla instrumentals and acapellas to crowd pleasing exhibits with a comedy store style compering between it all . To end it off Jay jumped into the crowd and demanded more Dilla beats and took photos with anyone who wanted one. He had to practically be dragged to his own aftershow party after declaring that if everyone couldn’t fit inside…he would take the party outside. It was another Trading Places classic.

The man is a true entertainer and demonstrated his talents to full effect last night. Personal highlight was his performance of ‘Eternal Sunshine’. To those going tonight…you are in for a treat. For those that slept on getting tickets…fools. Check more for the rest of the pics from the show and Trading places afterparty.

Yeah it was a late start, but in my opinion it was worth it – he entertained more than anything else and the combination of the suit and the double finish with Exhibit C made the evening worth it.
Unfortunately I have a serious job and midnight on a school night was well past my bed time. Jealous to all those who spent more time with Jay after – he seemed to enjoy the visit to London town…

My absolute highlight of last night was when the phrase “epic fail” was featured in a verse. WIN.

Oh mi days, i’d only heard his track Exhibit C but thought it was special enough to buy tickets to see him live. Man i think that was the best move i’ve made this year!!. He rocked and then some. Eloquent, articulate, intelligent with crazy beats. He had the crowd rocking. Sorry i didn’t make the after party cos from the pictures it looked wicked…. when’s he back again??
